What is this thing? I don't really know but I found it at the county dump. I suppose the easy answer is that this is the subject of the first light painted photograph I have ever taken. Shot during the full moon in July of 1999, the whole experiment was a result of an odd combination of insomnia and curiosity. I questioned my sanity that first night, as I walked down the long road toward the dump while coyotes howled in the distance and skunks scurried about by my feet, as oblivious to my presence as house cats. After a few minutes though, I became quite comfortable out there alone at night, and I have continued to do it ever since.
