Photo #N15-8Hosmer Mining Ruins #3

The area surrounding the old Hosmer mining operation is densely forested. I did the entire shoot with a 17mm ultra wide angle lens so I could get close enough to the buildings while shooting exteriors to keep them from being obscured by trees. I shot here in spring, before there were leaves on the trees in order to maximize the amount of available moonlight. As a bonus, the starkness of the bare trees seems to add to the atmosphere of the location. This shot captures the moonrise through a window of these haunting ruins.
