Handsworth Elevator #2

The closing of rail lines has signaled the end for many rural communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta. A short distance past here, the old dirt road makes a peculiar S-turn, literally going out of its way to avoid something which isn't there. This provided a convenient place to stay for the night as I parked the Starving Artist Van off to the side. Upon closer inspection the following morning, it appears this was once a rail crossing. The tracks are long gone but the mysterious curve in the road still offers a subtle reminder of the past.
