Main Street
Portreeve, Saskatchewan

Only a few boarded up buildings are left along the main street here in Portreeve. The trees and sidewalks, reminders of a more prosperous past, still remain but even the street itself is now gone.

The building on the left was the pool hall and farm equipment dealer. Former resident Elaine Dunford recalls:

"My father ran the local grocery store from 1948 to 1975. Before we had telephone service in the village, my dad would go to the pool hall and use the only village phone to place grocery orders for his business. As a female child, this was the only time that I was allowed to enter the pool hall."
