Burmis Tree #2

The nearby town of Burmis thrived during the early 1900's as coal mining expanded throughout the Crowsnest Pass region of Southern Alberta. Now very little of the town remains. Even this tree, the town's "living reminder" died in 1978. It remains standing to this day despite being blown over by high winds in 1998. The tree had become such a landmark that it was re-erected and secured to the bedrock beneath with stainless steel rods.
